I should have been spending my weekend getting ready for the new school term ahead...but after getting my DT cards done for this week, I couldn't resist playing along with this week's
Less is More Challenge, as they're showcasing my favourite brand of stamp...Penny Black, and encouraging us to use watercolours...perfect! In my defense, this card only took a few minutes to make as I already had the background made...I can't remember exactly when I did it, but it's been sitting in my image box for months! I made the background by simply 'splodging' Distress Inks (I think the colours are 'Chipped Saphire', 'Faded Jeans', 'Stormy Sky', 'Bundled Sage' and 'Forest Moss'...all my usual favourites!) on to an acrylic black, then spritzing with water before pressing a piece of card on the top to give a watercolour effect. I didn't know what to do with it, so put it aside for safe-keeping (as you do!), but yesterday as I was going through my Christmas stamps, inspiration struck! I inked up my Penny Black 'Snow Dust' stamp (minus the 'snow dust') using black Versafine ink and simply stamped it over the top. Once I'd trimmed it down, I matted it on to white card, popping it up on the card using some 3D foam pads, and added a sentiment (also Penny Black from the 'Wonderful' set).
