Pile It On! Challenge - Boys and/or Girls of Summer or Winter

It's the third Sunday of the month, so I'm back with some more inspiration for this month's Pile It On! Challenge where the themes are:

'Boys of Summer or Winter'
and/or
'Girls of Summer or Winter'

Our sponsor this month is Crafty Sentiments Designs:
Prize - 3 Digital Images of the Winner's Choice!

Having used one of the boys from the 'Christmas Kids' sheet of pre-coloured images sheet on my first card for this month's challenge, I thought I'd use one of the girls for my second card...adding a touch of sparkle to the snow and the furry trim on her hat and coat with some Stickles. I paired her with papers from the 'Candy Cane' pad by Craftwork Cards...I distressed the edges a little, then added some faux stitching using my CutterBee Bug and a black gel pen.

Pile It On! Challenge - Boys of Summer or Winter

We have a fun new Pile It On! Challenge starting today...and the theme is:

'Boys of Summer or Winter'

Our sponsor this month is Crafty Sentiments Designs:
Prize - 3 Digital Images of the Winner's Choice!

I really struggled with this theme...I don't really have that many stamps with people on...and very, very few with boys...but after a rummage through my stash I came across a sheet of Lili of the valley pre-coloured die cut images called 'Christmas Kids' that had one image with a boy left on it - perfect! As Christmas is in Winter for me...I'm going for 'Boys of Winter'...although you can't really tell what season it is from the image as he's cosied up indoors sleeping off his Christmas dinner! I paired it with papers by Craftwork Cards...from the 'Mistletoe' and 'Festive Chalkboard' pads. I distressed all of the edges, then added some faux stitching using my CutterBee Bug and a black gel pen.

Pile It On! Challenge - Transportation and/or Vacation

It's the third Sunday of the month, so I'm back with some more inspiration for this month's Pile It On! Challenge where the themes are:

'Transportation'
and/or
'Vacation'

We are sponsored for this challenge by Dr Digi's House of Stamps:
Prize - 2 Digi Stamps of the Winner's Choice!

We are also teaming up with the Double Trouble Challenge blog...which has a challenge staring tomorrow (Monday 17th) with a 'Vacation' theme...with a couple of optional extras too!

I combined the two themes...using a couple of Penny Black stamps and patterned papers to create a beach scene. I stamped the critters on to watercolour paper...the dog is called 'Bee-have!'...and I masked off the grass and flowers as he was going to be lying on the beach...and the chicken is actually a Christmas stamp...I masked off the Santa hat and snow so that he could be surfing rather then snowboarding...and drew in the top of head adding a comb in place of the hat. I coloured them using watercolour pencils, then carefully cut them out. I used patterned papers to create the background...the yellow spotty paper (sand) is from the 'Bright Freshness' pad by Craft Sensations, and the blue papers (sea & sky) are from the 'Prince Charming' pad by Recollections/Michaels. I tore the edges of a couple of strips of the zig-zag paper to represent the foam of the breaking waves. I added  sentiment (from the 'Sending Sunshine' set by Simon Says Stamp), distressed the edges of the papers a little, then added some faux stitching using my CutterBee Bug and  black gel pen.

Pile It On! Challenge - Lots of Layers and/or Use Your Scraps

I  have some more inspiration for this month's Pile It On! Challenge, where the themes are:

'Lots of Layers'
and/or
'Use Your Scraps'

Our sponsor for this challenge is Angie's Digital Stamps:
Prize - 2 Images of the Winner's Choice!

I combined the two themes, and used lots of scraps of papers from the 'Blue Floral' pad by My Mind's Eye (I'm on to my second pad of these papers, and have lots of scraps!) to make a birthday card for my brother. I paired them with a Tim Holtz 'Crazy Dog'...colouring him using watercolour pencils, the using the corresponding Sizzix die to cut him out. I distressed all of the edges, then added some faux stitching using my CutterBee Bug and a black gel pen. The sentiment stamp is from a set by Lili of the Valley.

I used more scraps of the papers and another of the 'Crazy Dogs' to make a matching gift tag.

The tag is actually quite large...I wanted to make a pocket on the back for a gift card:

And here it is on his gift:

Pile It On! Challenge - Your Favourite Colour

We have a fun new Pile It On! Challenge starting today...with a nice and easy theme:

'Your Favourite Colour'

Our sponsor this month is The Paper Shelter
Prize - Three Digital Stamps of the Winner's Choice!

My favourite colour is blue...I love all shades of blue, but particularly greeny-blues...like teal. So, I made a teal card blank, and stamped my design on to another piece of teal card...I used a Penny Black floral stamp (called 'Blossom Branch') and a sentiment from the 'Fabulous Birthday' set (by Hero Arts), stamping them using a white pigment ink, then heat embossing them in white to get a really crisp image. I lightly distressed the edges, then matted it on to a piece of white card (distressing those edges too), before adding it to my card blank.

'Pretty in Pink'
and/or
'Feelin' Blue'

I went blue this time...it's my favourite colour...and decided to make a Christmas card. I picked a Penny Black chicken image called 'Snowboard Ride', which I coloured using watercolour pencils. I added in a slope for him to snowboard down, then carefully cut around the top of the image. I added a snippet of snowy sky paper (from the 'Mystery Marbles' pad by Craft Sensations) behind him, them matted it all on to a snippet of navy card. The sentiment stamp is from the 'Scribbly Christmas' set by Tim Holtz for Stampers Anonymous).

Pile It On! Challenge - Pretty in Pink

We have another fun Pile It On! Challenge starting today...the theme is:

'Pretty in Pink'

We are sponsored for this challenge by All Dressed Up

Prize - 2 Digi Stamps of the Winner's Choice!

Pink is really not my colour, but I found a snippet of very pink watercolour paper left over from making this card last year. I made it by smooshing Distress Inks (Tattered Rose, Picked Raspberry, Fired Brick & Festive Berries) on to the paper a couple of times, drying in between layers. I embossed it using a folder from Craft Asylum/Sizzix, then cut out a circle using one of my Nesties. I lightly sanded over the hearts to reveal some of the white core of the paper, and used it as a background for this cute kitty. He's by Penny Black (of course!), and is from the 'Every Which Way' set...I coloured him using watercolour pencils, then carefully cut him out. The sentiment stamp is from the 'Sending Sunshine' set by Simon Says Stamp.

We have another fun Pile It On! Challenge starting today...the theme is:

'Land Animals'

We are sponsored for this challenge by A Day for Daisies

I went BIG for my land animal, and picked a cute Lili of the Valley elephant image called 'Blowing Bubbles' that I picked up in a charity shop a week ago to make a birthday card for a little girl. I coloured the image in pastel shades using watercolour pencils...adding some sparkle to the bubbles using a Wink of Stella pen. The papers are a mixture of American Crafts (pink & yellow from the 'Star Shine' pad) and First Edition (blue from the 'Silent Night' pad). I distressed the edges a little, then added some faux stitching using my CutterBee Bug and a black gel pen. The sentiment stamp is from the 'Cupcakes' set by Hero Arts.

Pile It On! Challenge - Shaped Cards and/or Add a Charm

It's the third Sunday of the month, so that means it's time for some more inspiration, and an additional theme for this month's Pile It On! Challenge:

'Shaped Cards'
and/or
'Add a Charm'

Our sponsor this month is Crafty Sentiments
Prize - 3 Digis of the winner's choice!

I made a cute little circle card this time, cut using the largest of my scalloped circle Nestie dies...making sure to leave one of the edges outside of the die so it would hold together. I cut a smaller circle from a piece of green card, distressed the edge, added some faux stitching using my CutterBee Bug and a black gel pen, then embossed it using a folder by Couture Creations called 'Jolly Christmas'. The pup is from the 'Wintertime Cheer' set by Penny Black...I coloured him using watercolour pencils, then carefully cut him out, adding him to my card using 3D foam pads. The sentiment stamp is from a House Mouse set called 'Sleepy Stocking'.

Pile It On! Challenge - Shaped Cards

We have another fun Pile It On! Challenge starting today...and the theme is:

'Shaped Cards'

Our sponsor this month is Crafty Sentiments
Prize - 3 Digis of the winner's choice!

I made a little 'cracker' shaped card...which is really known as a 'diamond fold' using a piece of double sided paper by Bo Bunny called 'Rejoice Adorned'. I simply added a Lili of the Valley pre-coloured die cut image from the 'Traditional Christmas' sheet. I used one of my circle Nesties to trim it down, and matted it on to some green card cut into a scalloped circle. I added some sparkle to the snowflakes and ornaments on the image using a glitter gel pen.

It folds flat into a neat little 4x4 square for posting:
