Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Handmade Embellishments

We have a new Oldie but a Goodie Challenge starting today...and the theme is:

'Handmade Embellishments'

I used a Marianne Designs die to cut a felt snowflake...which is held in place using a gemstone brad from Craft Obsessions. The image is 'Snowman' by Lili of the Valley...which I coloured using watercolour pencils...adding some sparkle to the snow using some Stickles. For the background, I embossed some plain white card using a Sizzix embossing folder. The twine is from the Ribbon Girls.

Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Spooky!

We have a new Oldie but a Goodie Challenge starting today...and the theme is:

'Spooky!'

I've made (another) Hallowe'en treat bag with one of the cute cats from the Penny Black 'Spooky!' set...which I coloured using watercolour pencils. The papers are a mixture of My Mind's Eye 'Boo to You!' and Bo Bunny 'Whoo-ligans'...I doodled some simple borders using black and white gel pens. The bats were cut using my Memory Box 'Bunch of Bats' die...and I couldn't resist adding a couple of googly eyes to the spider on one of the papers.

I'm also entering this treat bag into the following challenges:

The prize for this challenge is this Pippinwood decoupage kit:

I've made a Hallowe'en treat bag using an image from the Penny Black 'Be very scared' set which I coloured using watercolour pencils. My two papers are from the 'Whoo-ligans' collection by Bo Bunny...I doodled the borders using a white gel pen. Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Autumn

We have a new Oldie but a Goodie Challenge starting today...with a theme of:

'Autumn'

The stamp I've used on my card 'Snow Dust' is actually a wintery one, but I thought that the snow blowing off the trees could pass for leaves! I embossed it using clear powder, then blended 'Autumnal' colours of Distress Inks over the top (Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Bundled Sage & Forest Moss). I mounted this onto a piece of white card...to make it look a bit like a Polaroid photo...adding a sentiment from the 'Mini Messages' set by Hero Arts.

Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Stitching

It's my turn to choose the theme of the Oldie but a Goodie Challenge, and I've chosen:

'Stitching'
(Real or faux)

The prize for this challenge is three rolls of ribbon:

I've made myself a 'back to school' notebook (I'm a music teacher) to help me plan for the new academic year ahead. The plain notebook came from Hobbycraft - I picked up a load of these in the sale after last Christmas...I knew they'd come in handy eventually! The image is 'Toot the Flute' by Penny Black, which I coloured using watercolour pencils, and the music backgrounds are Hero Arts stamps. I blended some 'Old Paper' Distress Ink over the white card to 'age' it a little. The papers are from the 'Recollections' pad by Michaels...I distressed the edges of everything using 'Brushed Corduroy' Distress Ink, and my distressing tool, before adding my faux stitching my CutterBee Bug and a black gel pen.

I decorated the back to match (but used a different music stamp):

Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Anything but a Card

We have a new Oldie but a Goodie Challenge starting today, with the theme:

'Anything but a Card'

The prize for this challenge is a set of Tonic Studios toppers:

I made a tag...CASED from Tim Holtz's tag for June...I didn't really have any of the right products (besides some of the Distress Inks)...but didn't let that stop me! I started by stamping my Hero Arts 'Magical' background stamp in Versamark ink on a plain piece of white card, then heat embossed it using clear powder. I pressed various Distress Ink pads (Seedless Preserves, Salty Ocean, Spiced Marmalade & Evergreen Bough) on to my messy mat, then spritzed water over them to blend them together. I pressed my embossed card on to the inks to create a 'watercolour' effect, then used what was left to colour some white satin ribbon. I cut the background down to size, then added a sentiment (from the 'Sentiments' set by Hero Arts), and inked the edges of everything using 'Brushed Corduroy' Distress Ink. I coloured the butterflies (from the 'Social Butterflies' set by Penny Black) using the same inks, then mounted them on to the tag using 3D foam.

I'm also entering this tag into the following challenges:

The fruity papers are from the 'Farmhouse' pad by Studio Calico...I distressed the edges a little, then added some faux stitching using my CutterBee Bug and a white gel pen. We have a new Oldie but a Goodie Challenge starting today...the theme is:

Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Filigree

We have a new Oldie but a Goodie Challenge starting today...the theme is:

'Filigree'

The prize for this challenge is:
Tonic Studios Die Set 'Be Mine'

My intial thought when I saw the theme of this challenge was 'Eeeek!'...but then I remembered that I had a couple of fancy butterfly dies that would pass for 'filigree'! I started by stamping my Stampendous 'Agapanthus Clusters' and Hero Arts sentiment stamps in black ink, then blended Distress Inks over the top (Shaded Lilac, Milled Lavender, Dusty Concord, Weathered Wood, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans & Chipped Sapphire). I then stamped some flourishes from the 'Fantastic Flourishes' set by Hero Arts in water...splattered some water over the top...then gave the whole thing a generous spritzing of 'Baby's Breath' Cosmic Shimmerz. I used a Joy Crafts die to cut the butterfly from navy blue card...then daubed some 'Picket Fence' Distress Stain over the edges, before spritzing it with some more of the Cosmic Shimmerz.

Here's a close-up of the 'filigree' butterfly:

Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Anniversary

We have a new Oldie but a Goodie Challenge starting today, and the theme is:

I've used an old Penny Black image called 'Furry Embrace' that was sent to me several years ago in an image swap. I coloured it using watercolour pencils, then inked around the edges using 'Old Paper' and 'Brushed Corduroy' Distress Inks. The papers are from the 'Indie Chic' pad by My Mind's Eye...I inked the edges using more 'Brushed Corduroy' ink, then distressed the edges of everything using my distressing tool, before adding some faux stitching with my CutterBee Bug and a black gel pen. Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Valentine's

This fortnight's Oldie but a Goodie Challenge theme is:

'Valentine's'

I don't have the prize details at the time of writing this...so I'll add them later today :0)

I used my old Cuttlebug 'Concentric Hearts' die to cut hearts from a rainbow of shades of card scraps...then embossed them using a different embossing folder for each one (folders by Cuttlebug, Craft Concepts, Sizzix & Crafts Too). I simply arranged them in colour order across my card, popping the ones in front up on 3D foam pads. I doodled a simple border, then added a sentiment from the Hero Arts 'Sentiments' set.
