Pile It On! Challenge - Hallowe'en/The Witching Hour

This week at the Pile It On! Challenge our theme is:

'Hallowe'en/The Witching Hour'

We are sponsored for this challenge by Digital Delights:

I've decorated a Hallowe'en treat bag using a plain bag from Hobbycraft, and a Penny Black cat stamp from the 'Be very scared!' set. I created a scene using Bo Bunny 'Whoo-ligans' papers and some Die-namics' dies (Party Balloons, Picket Fence & Grassy Edges). I stamped the cat on to the backing paper first so that I didn't have to worry about cutting out his whiskers or the balloon string. The sentiment is also by Penny Black (from the 'Spooky' set) and the bats were cut using a Memory Box die.

Here are the challenges I've piled on:

Sorry...I Forgot!

Ooops...I forgot my blog's birthday! Well...the fact that my 'blogoversary countdown' widget seems to have decided to change the date it counts down to didn't help...I'd checked it a few weeks ago thinking 'it must be my blog's birthday soon' to find out that it wasn't until nearly the end of the month...but I checked back to my first ever blog post last weekend to discover that my blog had it's 6th birthday on September 3rd...and not today! So...I've made this card for my blog...I'm so sorry I missed your birthday!

The image is 'Sorry I forgot' by Rachelle Anne Miller for Crafter's Companion...the matching sentiment is one of the ones that came with the stamp. The papers are from the 'Indie Chic' pad by My Mind's Eye...I distressed the edges then added some faux stitching using my CutterBe Bug and a black gel pen. The pearls are from Hobbycraft and the seam binding ribbon is from the Ribbon Girls.

Challenges for this card:

Despite the extra time to prepare...I still didn't manage to get any blogoversary candy organinsed...so I'm going to save it and have a joint celebration when I post my 2000th post...coming up very soon!

Ecarte, Splits, Pirouette!

Things have been a little busy around here since the start of the new school year...but I found a some time yesterday afternoon to make a few simple cards. Today's uses a Penny Black image called 'Ecarte, Splits, Pirouette' that was sent to me in a swap so long ago that I can't remember who sent it to me. Inspired by the 'Music & Dance theme of this week's Less is More Challenge I thought that it was about time I coloured it in! As usual, I used watercolour pencils, then simply pierced a border, and added a Hero Arts sentiment (from the 'Cupcakes' set).

ABC Christmas Challenge - S is for...

We have a new ABC Christmas Challenge starting today...Samantha is the host, and the theme is:

'S is for Something Festive'
Easy-peasy...just make something Christmassy!

We are sponsored for this challenge by Freckled Fawn:
Prize - a $15 gift certificate to spend at Freckled Fawn!

I was sent a goody bag from Freckled Fawn containing some washi tape, rub-ons and adhesive gems to use for this challenge...and although they weren't specifically Christmas items, I made a festive card. I stamped and watercoloured n Anita's Christmas Tree (called 'Swirly Tree')...then added some bling with the blue adhesive gems. After doodling a simple border, I attached the image to my card blank with some of the washi tape, then combined a Hero Arts month stamp with a couple of the rub-ons to make a sentiment.

Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Autumn

We have a new Oldie but a Goodie Challenge starting today...with a theme of:

'Autumn'

The stamp I've used on my card 'Snow Dust' is actually a wintery one, but I thought that the snow blowing off the trees could pass for leaves! I embossed it using clear powder, then blended 'Autumnal' colours of Distress Inks over the top (Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Bundled Sage & Forest Moss). I mounted this onto a piece of white card...to make it look a bit like a Polaroid photo...adding a sentiment from the 'Mini Messages' set by Hero Arts.

Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Stitching

It's my turn to choose the theme of the Oldie but a Goodie Challenge, and I've chosen:

'Stitching'
(Real or faux)

The prize for this challenge is three rolls of ribbon:

I've made myself a 'back to school' notebook (I'm a music teacher) to help me plan for the new academic year ahead. The plain notebook came from Hobbycraft - I picked up a load of these in the sale after last Christmas...I knew they'd come in handy eventually! The image is 'Toot the Flute' by Penny Black, which I coloured using watercolour pencils, and the music backgrounds are Hero Arts stamps. I blended some 'Old Paper' Distress Ink over the white card to 'age' it a little. The papers are from the 'Recollections' pad by Michaels...I distressed the edges of everything using 'Brushed Corduroy' Distress Ink, and my distressing tool, before adding my faux stitching my CutterBee Bug and a black gel pen.

I decorated the back to match (but used a different music stamp):
