This card combines three challenges: the Allsorts Challenge sketch & 'Torn Edges' theme; the Secret Crafter colour combination of 'Turquoise & Brown'; and the Roses on Paper Challenge to use punches with a sketch of our choice. I've made a Christmas card...although the colour combo doesn't scream Christmas...I found these gorgeous papers amongst my BasicGrey 'Figgy Pudding' pack, and I coloured my 'Teddy Bear' image (by Rachelle Anne Miller for Stampavie) to match. I went for a snowflakes theme...embossing the brown paper with my Cuttlebug 'Snowflakes' folder, punching three small snowflakes (using an X-Cut punch), and using a Cuttlebug die for the larger snowflakes. The sentiment is from the 'Holly-Jolly' set by Penny Black, I used my Fiskars 'Deckle' tearing ruler on the snowflake paper, then distressed the edges of all of the other layers to match.

ABC Challenge - V is for...
Well, we've reached the tricky end of the alphabet over at the ABC Challenge...and this week:

Thank you for all of the gorgeous entries to our 'U is for USA' challenge last week - you really did give us all some difficult decisions choosing the winners of our anniversary RAKs, and it was even tougher choosing our new DT member.
The winners will be announced later today on the ABC Challenge blog...so make sure you check back to see if you've been lucky!
V is for 'Vellum'
Vellum is not something I use very often, but after a rootle through my stash I found a pack of Papermania 'Exquisite' vellums, and a little pad of quotes and sentiments, that I won in Jacqui's blog candy, some of which were on vellum. So taking those as my starting point, I decided to make an anniversary card, as I felt that the elegant designs on the vellum lent themselves to that. I tore the edges of the vellum using my Fiskars deckle edge tearing ruler, and cut out the sentiment using a deckle edged Nestie to match, then I matted the layers onto silver frosted card, using silver brads. I cut some hearts using the Cuttlebug 'Concentric Hearts' die from the same silver card, and tied a piece of silver organza ribbon around the middle - can you guess which anniversary it's for?! lol

Polka Doodles meets Dutch Dare
The fab sketch from this week's Polka Doodles Challenge is just perfect for making a 'Criss-cross' fold card. I decided to keep the front really simple, covering the two triangular flaps with the same 'Le fleur' paper (by K&Co), and layering up three fabric flowers held in place with a Papermania pearl brad - the largest one is from the candy I won from lovely Polka Doodles DT member Kath, and the smaller ones are both Flora Doodles. I made a simple band from a strip of the same paper to make a band to hold the card closed. This week's Dutch Dare Challenge is to decorate the inside of our cards...not something I usually do, but this style of card needs at least some decoration on the inside, as you see the centre panel from the front when the card is closed. I added a couple more Flora Doodles on the reverse of the large flower on the front (they are all mounted onto circles of card (cut with Nesties), then stuck together over the edge of the flap of card), and used more of the same paper from the front of the card on the inside of the triangular flaps. I used two other K&Co papers ('Blue Awning' & 'Blue Diamond') on the centre panel (the torn edge was made using a Fiskars tearing ruler), and added a plain circle of card in the centre to write my greeting. The lettering was cut using the Cuttlebug 'Olivia' alphabet.
This card is going to my partner in this month's Friendship Card Swap on the Docrafts forum.

Sketch Saturday Challenge #21

I've stepped out of my comfort zone a little with this card, and have used a gorgeous Sugar Nellie stamped image ('Reflective') sent to me by the lovely Cathy. The papers I've used are by K&Co, and I've torn them using a tearing ruler by Fiskars, to soften the edges. I stamped some flourishes using stamps by Hero Arts ('Fantastic Flourishes') in the corners as I felt it was looking a little plain. The silk flowers are by Papermania.
