It's the first Saturday of the month, so that means it's time for a new Penny Black Saturday Challenge...where the theme is:
'Anything Goes'
or
'Your Favourite Penny Black Stamp'
We are currently without a sponsor, so this challenge is just for fun.
My all time favourite Penny Black stamp, is also one of the first ones I bought, 'Birthday Dog'. I stamped him onto watercolour paper, then coloured him using watercolour pencils. I added a sentiment using stamps from the 'Birthday Buddies' set by Paper Smooches, then used one of my Nesties to cut the circle shape. I paired it with snippets of papers from the 'Prince Charming' pad by Recollections/Michaels (found at TKMaxx), and
'Refreshing Basics' pad from The Works...distressing the edges and adding faux stitching using my CutterBee Bug and a black gel pen. I used another Nestie die to cut the scalloped mat from a snippet of kraft card, then layered everything up on a kraft card blank.

It’s an adorable PB image and I love your card composition.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming to play in the Snippets Playground. See you on the swings. xxx
I can see why this is your favorite, Helen! What a fun image and you've colored it beautifully as always! Thanks for the warm welcome!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card Helen and the PB image is just adorable. Love the layout and your papers are just perfect. Thanks for sharing with us at Krafty Chicks challenge this week. Hugs, Denise x
ReplyDeleteSo sweet and so charming! I think I know why you love this stamp so much. It's so beautiful, and you've colored it so wonderfully. I really like the sentiment, too. Great background. It's truly impressive how you arranged the patterned paper pieces and added the stitching. A gorgeous color scheme in blue and brown. All in all, a beautiful birthday card.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing it in the current Everybody Art Challenge.
Hugs, Uschi
Absolutely wonderful card Helen! I do so love the beautifully coloured stamp you used - and as always, your background is a triumph! I sort of moan whenever you use your Cutter Bee - obviously extinct now, sigh.
