Snow Dust

I have a couple of cards to share today using my Penny Black 'Snow Dust' stamp, inspired by this month's Twofer Card Challenge, where the theme is 'Trees'. I used the stamp to make a Christmas card and a sympathy card.

The Christmas card is a simple one layer card, where I simply heat embossed the stamp (using 'Sparkling Snow' embossing powder by WOW), on a teal card blank. I added a sentiment (from the 'Merriest Wishes' set by Hero Arts) heat embossed in white.

On the sympathy card, I heat embossed the image again (using clear powder over blank ink), but only inked the tree part of the stamp. I stamped it on to a snippet of watercolour paper, on which I'd stamped some Distress Inks using an acrylic block...this has been in my bits'n'pieces box since I made this card in 2014! According to that blog post the colours I used were: Salty Ocean, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, Bundled Sage, Forest Moss & Bundled Sage. I trimmed the panel down, then matted it on to a snippet of kraft card, distressing all of the edges a little. The sentiment is from the 'Handwritten Borders' set by Simon Says Stamp.

  1. You know I love a CASlicious OLC and I love the color teal, so your Christmas card brought a big smile to my face, Helen! It's beautiful! And your sympathy card warranted a whispered WOW when I read that the background came from your bits box! I love that it was patiently waiting all these years to marry those gorgeous trees! Brilliant distressing and framing to complete the design! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #6! Hugs, Darnell

  3. What a crisp, fresh and deliciously CAS Christmas card, Helen ... there's a wonderful frosty feel about the white embossing on the rich teal ... positively magical! The smooshy panel from your bits box is lovely ... such a great 'find' and perfect as a backdrop to those bold, majestic trees! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)

  7. What a gorgeous duo Helen! The simplicity and elegance of the Christmas card is fabulous, but your sympathy card is truly wonderful. That is a beautiful snippet of watercolour card, and to think it has been lying neglected for 4 years … I'm so glad you got to use it on that terrific card. Thank you so much for sharing that one with us at Less is More xx
