The Lost Balloon

Today's card is a very simple one, featuring an old Lili of the Valley stamp called 'The Lost Balloon'. I stamped it on to watercolour paper and coloured it using watercolour pencils. The sentiment stamp is from the 'Anytime Messages' set by Hero Arts, and I doodled a simple border using a black gel pen before adding the panel to a kraft card blank.

Reindog

I have a Christmas card to share today, featuring one of the stamps from the 'Wintertime Cheer' set by Penny Black, stamped on to watercoour paper, then coloured using watercolour pencils. I made an inky snowy sky background for him, by stamping my 'Falling Snow' background stamp (by Simon Says Stamp) on to smooth white card using Versamark Ink, then heat embossing it using white embossing powder, then blending Distress Inks (Tumbled Glass, Broken China & Chipped Sapphire) over the top. I trimmed it down, then matted it onto a snippet of navy card, before adding my pup on top, and attaching it to my card blank. The sentiment stamp is from a set by the Colorado Craft Company.

Background Meadow Sympathy

I have another simple sympathy card to share today...this time featuring one of the stamps from the 'Background Meadow' set by Viva Decor. I stamped it along the bottom edge of a kraft card blank, using Versamark Ink, along with a sentiment from the 'Sketched Flower' set by Simon Says Stamp, then heat embossed them using 'Metallic Gold' embossing powder by WOW.

I love the way gold looks against kraft, but it's not the easiest thing to capture in a photograph, so here's another view:

Let it Snow...Please!

Today's card was a bit of an experiment...I had a set of normal felt tip pens, and wanted to try using them for inking up some stamps. I picked a lovely big snowflake stamp from a set by the Colorado Craft Company, and used a couple of different pens to add colour, spritzing with a little water before stamping on to watercolour paper. I added a sentiment from the same set, then distressed the edges a little before adding the panel to a DL card blank.

Happy Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day in the UK, so I'm sharing the card I made for my Mum. I actually made this card just after Christmas, so that I could leave it with my Dad in case I wasn't able to visit again before now...turns out that was very good planning! I used a stamp called 'Deco Roses' by Woodware, that I received a a Christmas gift...stamping it on to watercolour paper, along with a sentiment made using my 'Graffiti Alphabet' stamps by Paper Smooches. I coloured it using watercolour pencils, then distressed the edges a little, before matting it on to some matching pink card.

I made a matching tag for the gift...stamping the image off the edge of a kraft tag, along with a Hero Arts sentiment, and adding some colour using watercolour pencils. The twill ribbon around the gift was from Home Sense.

'Anything Goes'
or
'Flowers'

As usual, we are sponsored by the awesome 1-2-3 Stitch:

I used a stamp simply called 'Amaryllis' to make a Christmas card. I inked up the stamp using Distress Inks (Scattered Straw, Crackling Campfire & Fired Brick for the petals, and Forest Moss & Rustic Wilderness for the stem & leaves), spritzed it with a little water, then stamped it on to watercolour paper. Once dry, I inked around the image using 'Old Paper' Distress Ink, and embossed a sentiment (from the 'Letter It - Christmas' set by Ranger) in 'Metallic Gold' embossing powder by WOW over the top. ABC Christmas Challenge - E, F & G are for?

We have a fun new ABC Christmas Challenge starting today...Carol is the host, and the themes for this month are:

'E is for Elf'
'F is for Fir Trees'
&
'G is for Garland'

There's a lovely prize from Carol for the lucky winner:

I picked a Penny Black stamp called 'Bauble Balance' to use on my 'Elf' card...stamping it directly on to a kraft card blank, along with the matching sentiment, then coloured it using watercolour pencils.

My 'Fir Trees' card is a little bit of a cheat...I actually made the watercolour panel at the same time as this card last December...it was originally A5 in size, but just as I finished I managed to get a smudge of green ink in the middle of the sky, so had to trim it down. It's been sitting in my image box (along with a skinny snippet) since then waiting to be turned into a card. Anyway, here's how I made it...I started by painting the sky and snow banks on to watercolour paper, using Distress Inks (Stormy Sky & Chipped Sapphire). I then stamped my trees ('Before the Snow' and a smaller matching one from a little set called 'Wonder Collection')...using 'Evergreen Bough' Distress Ink...masking off the snow bank in the foreground. Once dry, I stamped each tree several times, then added a little more colour to them using more of the same ink (and a little of 'Pine Needles'). Once the trees were dry, I added my 'snow' by splattering a thick mixture of white watercolour paint all over the image. Finally, I stamped my sentiment (from a set by the Colorado Craft Company), then distressed the edges before adding the panel to a kraft card blank.

On my 'Garland' card, I stamped my image directly on to a kraft card blank, along with a Lili of the Valley sentiment, then coloured is using watercolour pencils.
