Together

Today's card features one of the Penny Black brushstroke floral stamps called 'Together' that I stamped on to watercolour paper using the watercolour stamping technique. I inked it up using Distress Inks (Dusty Concord, Chipped Sapphire, Broken China, Crushed Olive & Forest Moss), then spritzed it with some water before stamping. I stamped my sentiment over the top using Versamark Ink, then heat embossed it using 'Metallic Gold Sparkle' embossing glitter from WOW. I distressed the edges a little, then added some faux stitching using my CutterBee Bug and  black gel pen.

Another angle to show the sparkle on the sentiment:

Penguin Parade

I have a Christmas card to share today...featuring three of the penguins from the 'Penguin Parade' stamp by Woodware. I masked off their friends before inking and stamping, then used a black gel pen to extend to ground either side of them. I colored them using watercolour pencils, then carefully cut them out. I made a simple snowy background, by heat embossing my 'Falling Snow' stamp (by Simon Says Stamp) using 'Sparkling Snow' embossing glitter by WOW, on kraft card.

Birthday Fishes

Today's card features a trio of fishes by Hambo Stamps that I coloured using watercolour pencils, then carefully cut out. I used a piece of watercolour paper that I had had 'smooshed' with several blue Distress Inks left over from making this Christmas card for the watery background...adding a sentiment (from the 'Birthday Buddies' set by Paper Smooches) before popping the fish on using 3D foam pads.

Christmas Wishes

I have a Christmas card to share today...made using a snippet of snowflake embossed card that has been sitting in my 'box of bits' since I made this card back in January! It's the 'Outline Snowflakes' background stamp by Simon Says Stamp, and I heat embossed it on to kraft card using white embossing powder. I stamped my sentiment (from the 'Letter It - Christmas' set by Ranger) on to vellum, using Versamark Ink, then heat embossed it using 'Metallic Gold Sparkle' embossing glitter from WOW. I wrapped the vellum around the kraft snowflake panel, then matted it on to a snippet of gold glitter card.

PBSC September - 'Anything Goes' (Optional 'Use Something Old/Neglected')...More Inspiration!

It's the third Saturday of the month, so that means it's time for some more inspiration for this month's Penny Black Saturday Challenge...where the theme is:

'Anything Goes'
or
'Use Something Old or Neglected'

As usual, we are sponsored by the awesome 1-2-3 Stitch:
Prize - a $20 voucher!

The stamp I used on my card...'Magical Mimi' is both old and neglected. I won it back in 2011 as part of my prize for coming third in the Penny Black category...and as far as I can tell, have only used it once...on this card in February 2012! She is cute...but people stamps are not really my style, but I thought it was about time she saw some more ink! I stamped Mimi on to watercolour paper, along with a sentiment (from the 'Big Messages' set by Paula Pascual'), then coloured her using watercolour pencils. To carry on the 'old and neglected' theme, I paired Mimi with papers from an old BasicGrey pad called 'Hello Luscious', that I last used in 2013! In my defence, there's not a lot of it left...a couple of full sheets, and lots, and lots of snippets! I also added some pieces of Craftwork Cards 'Card Candi' to complete the 'old & neglected' theme!

Dog-gone Sweet!

I have another set of cards to share today...this time featuring the pups from the 'Dog-gone Sweet' set by Penny Black. They're ultra simple...I stamped the pups directly on kraft card blanks, along with a sentiment from the 'Big Messages' set by Paula Pascual. I coloured the pups using watercolour pencils...but didn't use any water.

Big Butterfly

I have a card to share today that features possibly the least imaginatively named stamp I own...'Big Butterfly' by Stampendous. I stamped it on to some watercolour paper using Versamark Ink, the heat embossed it using 'Midnight Dream' embossing glitter by WOW. I used some Distress Inks (Chipped Sapphire. Broken China & Gathered Twigs) to watercolour the wings...then splattered some of the same inks over the top. I added a sentiment from the 'Fabulous Birthday' set by Hero Arts, distressed the edges a little, then added it to a kraft card blank.

PBSC September - Anything Goes (Optional 'Something Old/Neglected')

It's the first Saturday of the month, so that means it's time for a new Penny Black Saturday Challenge...where the theme is:

'Anything Goes'
or
'Something Old or Neglected'

As usual, we are sponsored by the awesome 1-2-3 Stitch:
Prize - a $20 voucher!

I had a rummage through my Penny Black stamps to see if I could find anything that I hadn't used recently...and came across this adorable hedgie stamp called 'Guess?' I couldn't remember the last time I'd used it...so searched on my blog, and found that (to my shame) I'd only used it once...and that was back in 2013! I think that definitely counts as neglected! So I decided I should rectify the situation, and inked it up for this challenge. I stamped it on to watercolour paper, then coloured it using watercolour pencils. I paired it with papers from the 'Charmed' pad by Recollections/Michaels (found at TK Maxx) for a more masculine feel...distressing the edges a little, then adding some faux stitching using my CutterBee Bug and a black gel pen. The little sentiment stamp is from the Woodware 'Dotty Flowers' set.

ABC Christmas Challenge ...S & T are for?

We have another fun ABC Christmas Challenge starting today...Wei is the host, and we have two fantastic themes this month:

'S is for Sparkle'
&
'T is for Texture'

Wei has donated a fabulous prize:

My card for the 'S is for Sparkle' theme is a simple one layer card...featuring stamps from the 'Let it Snow' set by Happy Little Stampers...I stamped them, along with a sentiment from the 'Letter It - Christmas' set by Ranger, using Versamark Ink on a kraft card blank, then heat embossed them using 'Ho Ho Ho' embossing glitter by WOW.

For my 'T is for Texture' card, I dug out one of my old favourite Penny Black stamps...'Snowy', and stamped him on to a snippet of watercolour paper, coloured him using watercolour pencils, then carefully cut him out. I made him a wintry background scene, and started by 'smooshing' Distress Inks on to pieces of watercolour paper...Salty Ocean, Broken China, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch & Chipped Sapphire for the sky, and Crushed Olive, Forest Moss, Mowed Lawn, Lucky Clover, Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles & Ice Spruce for the trees. I embossed the 'sky' using a falling snow embossing folder by Tim Holtz for Sizzix...then lightly sanded over the raised surface to reveal the whit core. I cut some snowy mountains using a Happy Little Stampers die from a snippet of white card, then a couple of rows of trees from the green ink smooshed paper using a Penny Black die. I used a couple more snippets of white card for the snowy ground...tearing the edges for more texture, then layered everything up, adding 'Snowy' and finally a star cut from gold glitter card using a die from a Tim Holtz set for Sizzix.

Christmas Bells

I have another couple of Christmas cards to share today...both made using a Docrafts stamp called 'Christmas Bell'. I stamped on to black card using Versamark Ink, then heat embossed one using 'Metallic Silver Sparkle' and the other using 'Metallic Gold Sparkle' embossing glitter by WOW. I added some 'greenery' using one of the small stamps in the set and some 'Emerald City' embossing glitter (also by WOW)...and a sentiment (from the 'Scribbly Christmas' set by Tim Holtz for Stampers Anonymous), before matting the panels on to coordinating silver and gold glitter card.
