Oldie but a Goodie Challenge - Dies/Punches

We have a new challenge starting today over at Oldie but a Goodie, and this fortnight our theme is:

'Punches or Dies'

We have a fabulous sponsor for this challenge, with an amazing prize for the lucky winner:

Tonic have Christmas all wrapped up with their brand new Christmas Verso Die Range! Compatible with all leading die cutting machines, these are versatile the dies that you can use all year round to create both Christmas AND everyday cards.

The prize is:
3 x Verso Christmas Die Sets– Decorative Bow Rings, Decorative Holly Rings and Decorative Wreath Rings
2 x Christmas Sentiment Die Sets - ‘Peace, love, joy’, ‘Let it Snow’, ‘Deck the Halls’ ‘Oh Holy Night’, ‘Noel’ & ‘Jingle Bells’
These dies sold out on launch last week but we have a full set (worth £99) for one lucky winner, so get crafting!
Wowee - I wish I could enter!

Ok, so on to my project...I used some scraps of very old BasicGrey papers (from two pads - 'Lemonade' & 'Hopscotch') and a new die ('Madeleine' by Memory Box) to make a set of notecarrds to give as a gift.

I used 4 inch kraft card blanks (from Hobbycraft), and simply inked around the edges of the die cut pieces (using 'Brushed Corduroy' Distress Ink) before sticking them down, and adding a sentiment from an old CCSR set by Papermania. These were so quick to make...I made a dozen in total:

Little Acorn

I was busy working at the weekend, but I couldn't resist sneaking in a couple of CAS cards for a few challenges once I'd got all my DT things for the week done ;0) The first one uses a Lili of the Valley stamp called 'Little Acorn' and a sentiment from a set by Art Impresions to make a new baby card. I didn't have much time...so kept it really simple, a one layer card with the image coloured using watercolour pencils.

Autumnal Splatters

I have a couple of inky cards to show you today inspired by the autumnal colour combination over at Less is More of 'Dark Green & Rust'. I used 'Forest Moss' and a mixture of 'Spiced Marmalade' and 'Fired Brick' Distress Inks for the colours. I started by pressing my inkpads on to acrylic blocks, then watering down the ink a little, so that I could splatter it across some white card to create a background - I picked up the ink using an old paintbrush. I also did the same on a couple of Memory Box 'Darla Butterfly' die cuts...then inked over everything using 'Old Paper' (to take the edge of the white), and then around the very edges using 'Brushed Corduroy'. The sentiment stmp is from the 'Fabulous' set by Hero Arts.

Pile It On! Challenge - Tic-Tac-Toe

This week at Pile It On! we're playing:

'Tic-Tac-Toe'
Simply choose a row, column or even go diagonal if you like, and be sure to include those items on your project.

Our sponsor this week is Simply Betty:
Prize - a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Simply Betty!

I picked the top row (Patterned Paper - Metal - For a Child) and used one of my oldest (but still most favourite stamps) Birthday Dog' by Penny Black. I coloured her (I usually think of Birthday Dog as a 'him', but I had some new pretty papers that I wanted to use!) using watercolour pencils to match the 'New Bloom' papers (from First Edition). I distressed the edges a little, then added some faux stitching using my CutterBee Bug and  black gel pen. The sentiment stamp is from the 'Critter Party' set by Penny Black, the ribbon is from Poppicrafts, the bradsare BasicGrey, the flower and button are from my stash, and the twine is by Dovecraft.

Here are the challenges I piled on:
